Five straight.

Wow.

I’m speechless, which will make for a horrible blog. I don’t know what to say. I can’t even point to why we lost this game. For the most part, I thought we controlled the flow of the game. I’m … hold on, i’m going to go bang my head on the wall, see if that loosen’s some thoughts up. Please hold.

Still here?

Yeah … so. Our PK is pathetic. Nick needs to sit out for a while. Our team is delpleted by injuries. February hasn’t begun yet, but my faith has officially been lost in this team.

Don’t get me wrong. Love them. LOVE them. But they just aren’t playing with any type of “We gotta win, baby” … you know?

Sigh.

That’s all I have.

So, about last night…

Sorry I haven’t been around the last couple days. I needed a mental break from words such as Detroit, Red and Wings. I’m frustrated with the play - and hope that the injuries and lack of interest in playing 60 minutes of hockey - will work itself out over the ASG break.

I love hockey. I love sports. But I won’t be watching the ASG this year. The disrespect that the Red Wings have been shown by the higher ups by the NHL is disgusting. An absolute slap to the face of their marquee team. Yeah, I said it. The Red Wings are the marquee franchise of this floundering product.

Oh, it’s floundering.

Ask some, and they’ll say it’s a niche sport. So go ask the niche fans, they’ll tell you what I’m about to tell you:

The officiating is horrible. Its inconsistent. And it’s killing the game. I look at every penalty that is called very closely now. Because, I’ll be honest gang … I’m confused by some of the calls. It’s not the same game I grew up watching.

Flops and dives, oh my.

***

30 to 40 hours of negotiations = Annoying, but neccesary

10 years, 70 million dollars = pricey but worth it

Making sure our next capt’n is here for a long, long time = Priceless

Future so bright, Wings have to wear shades…

Matthew Wuest, at RedWingsCentral.com, checked in with a look at Red Wing prospect Gustav Nyquist today. Nyquist, Detroit’s third choice (121st overall) in the 2008 draft, leads the Maine Black Bears with 19 points in 22 games. Just a freshman, Nyquist ranks 14th in points in Hockey East play.

It’s very impressive, what he’s done,” said Red Wings scout Mark Leach. “First of all, stepping into a very good program, playing a lot, the top lines, the power play … It doesn’t happen a lot for a freshman in the college ranks.

Hey Ozzy, read this:

MR. ZERO? Goaltender Daniel Larsson (Grand Rapids, AHL) recorded his league-leading fifth shutout of the season this week. He continues to post sparkling numbers that sit among the top five in the entire league.

Larsson was honored for his success this season with a spot on the AHL’s PlanetUSA team for the all-star game on Jan. 26 in Worcester, Mass. Sophomore blue-liner Jakub Kindl, who is fifth in AHL defensemen scoring with 24 points in 39 games, also earned a spot on the team.

A little this, and a whole lotta that….

Power rankings are coming in. I’ll update this post as they come in, so stay right here. Hey, hey, I said stay right here….. guys? Hello?

Hello?

It’s amazing the work some high-paid journalists do, what with putting a number infront of a teams name, and then inserting wittiness like: Ken Holland is confident he’ll get a longterm deal done with Henrik Zetterberg before the trade deadline. Then comes the tough decision: Johan Franzen or Marian Hossa? Wait. That’s not witty, and what does it have to do with this week’s power ranking?

Anyways, Yahoo has the Wingwheels ranked third, behind San Jose (1) and Boston (2).
